Fioricet Description

DescriptionAcetaminophen, Butalbital, and caffeine, which are used together in an oral formulation for the treatment of pain, particularly headaches. Paracetamol is a non-narcotic analgesic for pain and headache relief. Butalbital is a barbiturate used for its sedative effect. Caffeine is contained in many analgesics and can be useful in migraine and vascular headaches. Fioricet with Codeine is also available. The combination of acetaminophen and codeine provides greater analgesic effect than that obtained acetaminophen alone or by higher doses of opioids. In addition, this combination can cause fewer side reactions than do either single dose analgesic agent.
